Originally the stadium and playing surface were to provide a place for softball games, played by the thousands of veterans who were long-term patients at the V.A. Medical Center. It has transformed over the years and serves to host both high school and college games and serves as the home stadium of the Chillicothe Paints. Perhaps the most wonderful aspect of the stadium is that it continues to serve as a venue for our veterans to enjoy watching games while they are at the medical facility. It is an honor to play in the V.A Memorial Stadium. The men and women who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces give all of us the freedom to enjoy the "game" of baseball. A commemorative plaque attached to the wall in the concession area reads,
"In Living Rememberance of Those Who Served to Preserve the Ideals of this Nation and in Love of Fellow Man."
